Multi-stage paint correction cuts deeper into the clear coat and is much more tedious than the single stage paint correction method listed above. This is for the client looking to bring his/her vehicle back to its original swirl free finish. With the exception of deeper scratches and defects, the paint will become blemish free. The multi-stage process begins with wet sanding or heavy compounding to remove scratches, swirls, and blemishes. Followed by subsequent polishing steps in less abrasive order to achieve a finish of the highest gloss. Several factors, such as vehicle make, paint type, paint condition and vehicle size determine what steps are needed. All of this will be discussed with the owner for an accurate price. Typically 90-95% of swirl removal is achieved with this process.

Paint correction is the next step in having your vehicle detailed, also known as swirl removal. Single stage paint correction, when done properly, is a very labor intensive process. This involves the use of orbital and /or rotary buffers, depending on the needs of the vehicle. Each job gets assessed. Depending on the paint condition, type of paint, and the owner’s expectations, a plan is formulated to achieve the desired results. It is also of the utmost importance that the detailer has the knowledge and skills to use each tool in a safe and proper manner. These are the skills after all, that separate the top detailers from the average. Our trained detailers at SDAL have over 10 years of experience in paint correction.

Opti-Coat is a hard wearing, ceramic clear coat for superior resistance to scratching (9H) and protection from chemical etching due to environmental impacts. The Opti-Coat pre-polymer cross links, and forms a continuous protective film on the painted surface it is applied to, similar to a single component isocyanate that forms a clear coat finish. Opti-Coat has better chemical resistance, scratch & mar resistance, and release properties than any automotive wax coating in use. It provides permanent protection for all modern factory paints and can also be used to protect metal and hard plastic surfaces. A single layer of Opti-Coat measures approximately 2 microns in thickness.
